About AAA Motor Club
AAA was founded over a hundred years ago as a motorists’ advocate organization. They began offering an increasing number of services, all focused on American drivers and travelers. Today the company has over 50 million members operating through 50 individual clubs throughout the United States.
The company serves as travel agents and offers roadside assistance, among other things. While most consumers think of AAA for auto insurance and services, they also offer insurance products, including auto, home and condo, renters, life, and recreational vehicle insurance.
In addition, like many insurance companies, they’ve begun to offer financial investment products. Those products include IRA accounts, estate administration and trust administration.

AAA vs. Farmers Auto Insurance Review
These two companies have been in existence longer than many, and each has its strengths. With its focus on all things travel-related, AAA’s range of services far exceeds the usual bounds of an insurance company.
In fact, it’s still predominantly a motor club that offers insurance. Farmers, on the other hand, has always focused on the insurance business and has insured motorists since the business’ foundation.
ACG (the way industry specialists refer to most of AAA’s insurance providers) received three out five stars in every category of the J.D. Power and Associates “2010 National Auto Insurance Study“, except for contacting the insurer, which was a two. The company’s ratings for claims satisfaction is low, as is their NAIC rating.
This might come as a surprise for those acquainted with AAA at large, given that the company generally receives extremely high marks for customer service.
On the same scale, Farmers received three out five on overall satisfaction and contacting the insurer, and twos in policy offerings, billing and payment and pricing. This puts AAA ahead by the industry standard in every category except contacting the insurer.
AAA’s insurance works differently than it does with other providers. Those insured with AAA are serviced by the individual motor club of which the client is a member. This means, for instance, that those insured in southern California are insured by ACSC (Auto Club of Southern California).
The experience can vary widely, depending on the motor club. There are also a variety of perks, benefits, and discounts involved with being a motor club member.
With Farmers, the service is likely to be more consistent because they operate in a more traditional manner. All clients are insured by Farmers itself, like any other major insurance carrier.
This means that, depending on the car club involved, Farmers may be a more effective choice.
Should I choose AAA or Farmers Auto Insurance?
While the selection of an insurance provider is always tricky, this particular choice is unique. It’s a selection between a long-standing traditional provider and a federation of motor clubs that also offers insurance.
In the end, the choice is based on you. If you’re in need of several of AAA’s services, and the club in your area is a good one, it might be the right fit for you.
On the other hand, Farmers offers a kind of consistency and much wider product offerings. The best way to decide is to do your research, weigh the pros and cons, and compare them with your individual needs.

Who has more car insurance discounts?
When it comes to auto insurance many drivers ask about the discounts and both AAA and Farmers offer a number of car insurance discounts available to most drivers.
Both companies reward good drivers however Farmers certainly has a much wider product line to choose from when it comes to taking advantage of the multi-policy discount.
AAA car insurance rates are also based on the chapter where you live and may or may not be on par with Farmers simply depending on the local chapter’s premiums.
Who has better car insurance rates – AAA or Farmers?
Both AAA and Farmers have very competitive rates. It’s hard to draw a straight line between the two companies and declare who has better rates. Auto insurance premiums are determined by a number of factors and your risk profile may be measured differently by one car insurance company than the next.
While AAA has a broad range of services that come with their car insurance offerings, compared with Farmers Insurance’s long and highly rated insurance policy options, they are both well known insurance companies.
The best way to compare car insurance is always to request quotes from multiple providers before making a decision.
